Searches for “AWS without a credit card” mash four products into one phrase. One is a workshop sandbox that lasts hours. One is the Free plan AWS opened to new customers on 15 July 2025, which still asks for a payment method. One is a production account on the paid plan. One is a third-party application channel that still goes through live review.
This page is a defensive explainer, not a recipe for a lasting AWS account without payment checks. “Duoyun cannot guarantee bypassing AWS payment verification.” If you only want to try AWS this afternoon, use AWS’s sandbox and ignore conversion links below.

1. Sandbox / Builder Center — hours, not production
On 8 July 2026 AWS announced that Builder Center lets you request a free, time-limited sandbox from eligible workshops. What’s New says this removes the need for a personal AWS account or a credit card. Each sandbox gives 8 hours from activation, then automatic cleanup. You may request one sandbox per week (resets every Sunday). AWS says most environments are ready within fifteen minutes. Only select workshops had sandboxes at launch.
The eight-hour figure is AWS’s. InfoQ covered the same launch in August 2026; overlap is cited from AWS. If Builder Center’s current UI disagrees with an older article, follow Builder Center. This is the only official no-card learning path here. It is not production.

2. Free plan — a payment method, then credits or six months, then close
On 15 July 2025 AWS updated Free Tier. Accounts created before that date stay on legacy Free Tier. Accounts created on or after it join the new program (free plan or paid plan at signup).
Free Tier FAQs, Free Plan Q12: AWS requires a valid payment method to verify identity and prevent abuse. AWS will not charge it until you upgrade to paid, and you will not re-enter it at upgrade.
Complete-signup is softer: “A credit card may be required in order to secure your account and prevent fraud. Your credit card will only be billed if you convert to a paid plan.”
Read both. “Without a credit card” is the sandbox. The Free plan is “you may not be billed until you upgrade,” not “no payment instrument at signup.” Closure matters more than any credit headline:
- The free plan ends at the earlier of 6 months or credits exhausted. You cannot extend it past 6 months.
- AWS then closes the account, keeps data 90 days, and lets you upgrade to reopen. After 90 days it permanently erases the account and its content.
- Unused credits after an upgrade last up to 12 months from sign-up, unless you join an Organization or Control Tower (credits expire immediately).
- The new Free Tier is not in GovCloud (US) or the China Regions.
AWS publishes its own credit figures on the Free Tier page and the 15 July 2025 blog — AWS’s numbers and URLs, not a Duoyun offer. Prefer: explore, then upgrade, or let the account close when credits run out or six months elapse.

3. Production / Paid — UnionPay credit cards, not debit
Production is the paid plan. AWS bills beyond credits. FAQs: you cannot downgrade paid back to free.
If the blocker is a card issued in China, AWS announced on 21 February 2025 that China UnionPay credit cards can create a new AWS account. You enter address and billing country in China, submit UnionPay credit-card details, and verify personal identity or a business license. Later charges bill in yuan.
That is still a credit card. CNY billing docs note: “Chinese yuan debit cards are not supported at this time.” Personal setup uses a national ID; business setup uses a license number and image. AWS: CNY credit-card checks up to one business day; bank-redirect identity checks one to three business days. Those clocks are AWS’s, not Duoyun’s.

Mainland China Regions are not the global login. AWS China FAQs and China Gateway: Beijing is operated by Sinnet (Beijing Sinnet Technology Co., Ltd.); Ningxia by NWCD (Ningxia Western Cloud Data Technology Co., Ltd.). You need separate credentials. AWS Inc. credentials do not open China Regions, and the reverse is also true. Reconfirm on the AWS China site.

4. Third-party channel — live review, not a promised outcome
Duoyun is a third-party multi-cloud service channel, not AWS; this page does not claim any AWS partnership or directory listing.
